fuel tank shut off gasket
« on: June 14, 2010, 05:47:48 AM »
Any body know of availability or a part number the petcock gasket (round one with 4 holes) for the 3ma? getting tired of draining my tank every time I have to take it off!! >:(
If I remember correctly when I ordered the parts for my rebuild, Andy from Webbs said the gasket is not available by itself, I would have to buy the complete petcock.
Is there a aftermarket available or one from a different bike the fits?

Last time I had mine off I turned it around so the worn piece of the rubber gasket was in a different position and...it worked... :o

Any chance that the one from a 2MA might fit?

In the parts manuals they look very similar?

I can give you the dimensions of a 2MA one easy as i have a old one lying around

Sure it can't hurt to know both their sizes...I will have my tank off again this weekend and and take some measurements too.
Cheers,

Hi

Was wondering if you had any joy with the gasket for the fuel shut off ??

Mines completely buggered now :laugh:i know it is not listed as a separate part

but apparently the complete tap is no longer available from yamaha as well

I have seen a couple of repair kits listed for the rd 250 which look pretty close

Has anybody tried them ??
