2MA fuel tap
« on: July 06, 2010, 04:49:23 AM »
I`m after a little info,
the tap on my 2MA seems to be leaking from the fuel outlet from the tap. there is a metal connector that seems to be pressed into the body of the fuel tap, on my fuel tap this can move a little.  does anyone know how this pipe is fitted into the cast body?

Is it a press fit, screw fit, any "o-rings" involved?

I am a little reluctant to try and fix this leak without any info, just in case I make things worse, I would be greatfull for any info from anyone who has had a go at this

Hi,

I've never remove it but I think it is press fit.

I have a old spare tap which also has a loose fuel outlet connector which i have pulled out and appears to be a press fit, definitely not a screw fit, definitely not "o" rings. It may have been pressed?/glued?/soldered? originally but it's hard to tell.

I think you will have to replace it unless a special petrol resistant sealant/glue can be used.

Thanks for the info gents, Teezer that info is very helpfull.

I`ll check the locktite specs as I`m sure there are a couple of petrol resistant types usually used for bearings.

The superglue I got from the pound shop is petrol resistant.
