Hi there, I have just had 3xv engine done with new pistons and rings and gaskets wtc...new powervalve cables, but the problem is that the one powervalve is delayed and doesn’t return to correct postion, but if u tap it with screw driver it then sluggishly returns to position....any ideas on what going on

What type of power valve setup do you have?
Is it the type that has a connection rod between them, that would be the drum type of valve, or do you have 4 cables, 2 to each valve, that would be the guilotine type of valve.

It sounds like the 1 valve is not free moving, so must be getting held up by crud that has built up around the valve, or when reassembled was not correctly done.
All I can suggest is remove the cables and move it by hand to see if it is sticking or feels free.

Hope this helps.
Martin.

Ask him if he's checked the operation of the PV motor with a stronger rated (higher amp/hour) battery - an old or tired 3XV battery will struggle to move the PVs easily without the motor running and it can sound like the servo itself is weak.

Then, with the cables off, try moving the actual PV's by hand. If they don't move smoothly and easily they will need stripping and cleaning of carbon build up. The PV servos seldom fail, but if yours is toast one from the more common 2MA/1KT model should fit I think, but you'll need the Servo cable wheel and cable guide from your unit if its a 93 on SP or SPR.

yeah thanks...that makes perfect sense,  i dont think a new motor will be needed. the battery was stone dead  cos it had been sitting for 6 months, so if i get a new batterey should see an improvement in the powervalve movement?? great will  keep this updated
