Anyone knows if you can convert 2my cdi to work on 1kt cdi? Beside the obvious connector changes. Most of the wires are the same except, the Red/Black. What is this wire function?

Hi,

2MY is similar to 2MA and they have side stand kill switch which kills the engine if you engage a gear with the side stand opened.

The 1KT and 2XT did not have side stand switch.

Check the wiring diagram to confirm.

my 1kt does not have a stand switch. i do not have a wiring for the 1kt. i cannot test this as i suspect my cdi is the reason for my bike not running. i ask this as i bought a lot full of stuff (cdi,rectifier,ypvs,wiring harness). i was just going to use what part i need. mostly electronics, minus the wiring harness. i notice that the cdi i purchased is a 2my. anyone else could help with the answer? i do know all the wires matches up except this Red/Black.

Hi,

Check the 2MA manual and look at the wiring diagram to see if it is connected to side stand box (combining side stand and neutral switches).

I could not check on my 2MA because she is not running at this time.

So a running 2MA could help to know if the wire need to be grounded or set to 12v.

So I tried out a 2MA CDI. All the connections matches up except for the Red/Black. Here's the result:

runs great
only RUN switch will shut bike off
ignition key does not shut bike off
