NOS (Nirous Oxide) system on 2-stroke
« on: September 02, 2010, 03:02:11 AM »
Anyone tried to put it on a 2-stroke bike?
Just ordered one for the R1....will it work on a 2 -stroke?
The dry system does requare hogher jetting, so thought if I was to install bigger air jets and a bit bigger mains it couls probably work. I believe nottt so good for the engine though  ;)

I witnessed someone impressively flipping a NOS'd Peugout speedfight when he hit the button in the paddock at a trackday a few years ago. Not really feasible or worthwhile to fit to a roadbike though I reckon. And it's hard enough getting a good carb set-up on a 3MA anyway, without complicating matters with additional squirts of the laughing gas...  :o
Still smoking...

Easy to do!

First, you must start with a well jetted baseline set of carbs!

The best set up is having a solenoid valve (which you should have anyway) wired to your TPS so the valve opens when your at XY revs. The jetting issues are best resolved by having the NOS injected as the jet that effects the XY rev range comes on. For instance you would aim for the Main jet RPM range to boost torque and give best mid range power.

If you choose to aim at the upper RPM range (ie: PWJ) expect to rebuild the bottom end very regularly as they aren't designed to spin up to 15000+ RPM :o I've seen a small 25cc 2T engine literaly keep reving untill it flew appart when the NOS is applied at WOT, takes about 2 seconds.

So IMHO shoot for midrange not top end and you'l see best results.

Almost forgot, you'll need to find/make a set of pipes that can flow the extra gas otherwise you'll melt pistons.

Sound really promissing...if you dont blow it up the first time, just have to change the pistons every week  ;D
Thanks will pass on that one ;)
